Pokéworks opens its first Southern California location at Culver Plaza in Irvine
Culver PlazaIRVINE, Calif. — Poké, the Hawaiian raw fish trend that has now launched countless new restaurants, continues its hot streak.
Pokéworks opens its first Southern California location today at Culver Plaza. The expanding chain, which opened its first outpost in New York in 2015, is set for a national rollout of additional locations.
“Pokéworks serves up a very pristine rendition of the classic Hawaiian staple – it’s it’s a light and healthy meal perfect for SoCal’s year-round sunny weather,” said Easther Liu, chief marketing officer for Irvine Company Retail Properties. “This is a trend that could be here to stay.”
Pokéworks serves build-your-own poké bowls, poké burritos and poke salads with a variety of proteins, sauces and toppings to choose from. Guests can select from protein options such as ahi tuna, salmon, seared albacore, shrimp, scallops, chicken and organic tofu. Mix-ins include cucumber, edamame, blanched kale, shiso leaves and diced mango. Toppings range from avocado and sesame seeds to roasted macadamia nuts and wonton crisps.
“We actually developed the concept for Pokéworks here in Orange County so we’re excited that we can finally bring our take on poké to Irvine,” said Kasper Hsu, managing director of Pokéworks. “We’re looking forward to serving a healthy and sustainable eating option for both fans of poké and for all the future fans of poke we hope to reach.”
Pokéworks is at Culver Plaza, 15333 Culver Dr., in Irvine. (949) 629-3875.
